Michael Hayes is an emerging artist who currently lives and works in Campobello, S.C. His preferred media is oil paintings.
Michael's artistic career began in the 1980's in New York City where this rich artistic and cultural submersion formed him.
Taking inspiration from the nearby Hampton beaches and also from his numerous sojourns in Italy, his love of the oceans translated into close up forms and colors taken from the sea life and the endless reflection of lights .
He attended the New York School of Design and spent two years mentorship with a pastel artist. In 1990 he moved to Bucks County, a mecca for landscape painting. He had four solo shows and was represented by three galleries. He entered numerous juried and group shows.
Landscape paintings and water became the main theme with use of color and light. Trips to the Caribbean eventually influenced Michael to paint water in Lyrical Abstraction.
In 2012 he moved to Campobello, SC and has continued to convey water abstractly from the local waterways to the Caribbean and France.
